A 37-year-old New York man has been indicted on charges stemming from a drunk driving crash on Interstate 81 that injured 26 bus passengers in November 2014. He faces up to 25 years in prison.
On March 24, a Pennsylvania man was killed in a car crash on Route 62 in Kiantone. The accident happened at approximately 7:45 a.m. just south of Riverside Road, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York had a 58-year-old bus driver arrested under the requirements of administrative code 19-190 on Feb. 13. The city law makes injuring or killing a pedestrian or bicyclist a criminal misdemeanor.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention emphasizes the dangerous effects that driving while under the influence of drugs and alcohol have on the general public. As little as one alcoholic drink can affect a driver's ability to operate a vehicle with the expected standard of care necessary to avoid endangering others. Though accidents caused by impaired drivers can happen to anyone, certain groups, such as young people or those with a history of DWIs, tend to be at a higher risk of being involved in one.
One person was killed and another seriously injured in a wrong-way crash in Sullivan County on Dec. 28. At the time of reporting, police were investigating the accident to determine factors that may have caused the crash.
On Nov. 7, a 47-year-old New York woman was killed and her 49-year-old husband injured when their car was struck by a Chevrolet Tahoe traveling the wrong way down South Lexington Avenue. According to reports, the Tahoe struck the car as it was crossing an intersection and pushed it approximately 200 feet down the avenue, trapping the occupants inside of the car. The woman was in the back seat folding newspapers while her husband was at the wheel.
An Oct. 31 accident in New York resulted in the death of a 38-year-old man. The man was traveling on Route 90 when his car was struck by an oncoming dump truck, according to authorities. The dump truck, being driven by a 27-year-old man, was headed west when it crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with the victim's pickup truck head-on.
A livery cab was reportedly traveling south in Brooklyn on Sept. 2 around 12:40 p.m. when the driver attempted to make a right turn. The driver struck a flatbed truck that was also attempting to turn, causing the cab driver to lose control of the car and jump the curb. The cab then struck a 29-year-old woman on the sidewalk.
A bicyclist was injured in a recent accident and remains hospitalized. The auto accident left him with critical injuries that he endured as a result of a collision with an SUV. New York authorities are still investigating the crash and what may have contributed to the collision.
